# How Knowasiak profiles get found

A Knowasiak profile appears in people search, Explore, the sitemap and on Google once it has a post that people engaged with. Here is the rule, why it exists, which posts search engines index, and how to be found faster.

## In short

A Knowasiak profile is listed in search, Explore and suggestions, sent to search engines and included in the sitemap once it has at least one live post. In the first two weeks any post counts; after that, at least one post needs a like, a reply or a repost. Verified businesses, verified accounts and Pro members are always listed. A profile that isn't listed still opens for anyone with its link.

## The rule

A profile is **listed** when:

- it has at least one live post or reply, and
- after its first 14 days, somebody has liked, replied to or reposted at least one of its posts.

Always listed, whatever their posts: **verified businesses**, accounts with the **verified badge**, and **Pro members**.

The check runs every hour, and again right after you publish, so a first post lists a new profile straight away.

## What "listed" means

| | Listed | Not listed |
|---|---|---|
| Opens for anyone with the link | Yes | Yes |
| People search, Explore, suggestions, leaderboard | Yes | No |
| The sitemap search engines read | Yes | No |
| Search engines may list it | Yes | No (the page says "noindex") |
| Can post, follow and message | Yes | Yes |

Two cases are different: a profile whose name, bio or website breaks the [content rules](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-we-fight-spam), or an account whose posts keep being removed as spam. Those pages are taken down for everyone but their owner.

## Why empty profiles stay out of search

Most accounts that never post are empty: a name and a default picture. Thousands of pages like that would tell search engines that Knowasiak is mostly thin pages, and they would show every Knowasiak page less often, including yours. Keeping them out means the pages search engines see from Knowasiak are worth reading, and that helps every profile that is listed.

It is also why the sitemap lists far fewer profiles than there are accounts: it only lists profiles that pass this rule.

## Which posts search engines index

- **Accounts older than 30 days**: every public post that follows the rules.
- **Verified businesses**: from the first day.
- **Newer accounts**: each post earns it, either by getting a couple of reactions (likes, replies or reposts) or by passing a quality check of its writing. Until then the post is public on Knowasiak but asks search engines not to list it.

Posts hidden by the content rules, and deleted posts, are never indexed.

## How search engines and AI assistants hear about you

- **Within minutes**, new public posts and their authors' profiles are sent to search engines that take instant updates through IndexNow, such as Bing. Bing also feeds Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT search uses it among its sources.
- **Every day**, the [sitemap](https://knowasiak.com/sitemap/sitemap-index.xml) is rebuilt with every listed profile and indexable post, for Google and the rest.
- **On every page**, structured data tells search engines whether a profile is a person or a company, with its name, description, website and other accounts.
- **For AI assistants**, every profile and post also has a clean Markdown copy (add `/index.md` to the address), and the site publishes [llms.txt](https://knowasiak.com/llms.txt).

None of this can force a search engine to list a page or an assistant to mention you; it makes sure they can find and read you.

## How people search orders profiles

People search and Explore don't show the same famous accounts to everyone. They first match what was searched for and any filters (industry, company size, place), then mix in who the searcher already knows and who those people follow, the searcher's country, and a small, damped measure of popularity, with an order that rotates daily. So a new, active business has a real chance to be seen next to established ones.

## How to get found faster

1. **Publish your first post.** It lists your profile right away.
2. **Write posts people answer**: a specific question, a lesson, a short case study. One reply keeps your profile listed.
3. **Complete your profile**: a photo, one sentence on what you do, for whom and where, your website and your other accounts.
4. **Verify your business or work email**, so you are always listed and your posts are indexed from day one.
5. **Keep "Show your profile in search engines?" on** in your **privacy settings**.

## Questions

### Why isn't my profile on Google?
Most often because it has no posts yet, or because nobody has liked, replied to or reposted any of them after your first two weeks. Publish a post worth replying to and the profile joins search and the sitemap within the hour. Also check that "Show your profile in search engines?" is on in your privacy settings. After that, Google decides when to crawl and list a page; it usually takes days, not hours.

### Can people still open my profile while it isn't listed?
Yes. Anyone with the link can open it and follow or message you. It just isn't shown in search, Explore or suggestions, and it asks search engines not to list it.

### How long do my posts stay up?
For as long as you keep them. Posts don't expire, so a useful post can keep bringing readers from search for years.

### Does verifying my business help?
Yes. A verified business is always listed in search and Explore, and its posts can be indexed from the first day instead of earning it. It also marks links to your own site as a "Verified site". Verify in **Settings, Verification**.

### Can I keep my profile out of search engines?
Yes. Set "Show your profile in search engines?" to No in your **privacy settings**. Your profile stays on Knowasiak, but it is left out of the sitemap and asks search engines not to list it.

### Do AI assistants read my profile?
Assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity are allowed to read public Knowasiak profiles, and every profile has a clean Markdown copy for them. Your profile analytics show how often AI assistants read your page. No one can guarantee an assistant will mention you; see [getting into AI answers](https://knowasiak.com/get-found-by-ai).
