# How the Knowasiak feed works

Your feed is ranked for you: posts that match what you care about, from people you follow and that other members responded to, come first. Here is what moves a post up, what holds one back, and what you can control.

## In short

The Knowasiak feed ranks each post for each member. The biggest signals are how well the post matches your interests, whether you follow the author, and whether people replied to it or reposted it. Fresh posts and posts with real writing or a picture of the author's own rank higher; bare links, sales pitches and hashtag stuffing rank lower. One author never appears twice within ten posts, and paying doesn't change the ranking.

## Where the posts in your feed come from

Each time your feed is built, Knowasiak gathers posts from three places, then ranks them together:

1. **Your interests.** Posts from the last six weeks about topics you engage with, topics you picked in Feed preferences, your business category and your headline.
2. **People you follow.** Their posts from the last three weeks.
3. **The best of the rest.** Recent posts from across Knowasiak that members responded to, in the languages you read.

Posts you have already seen in the last few days are left out, so the feed doesn't repeat itself.

## What moves a post up

Roughly from strongest to weakest:

- **It matches your interests.** This is the strongest signal: a post on a topic you care about beats a popular post on one you don't.
- **You follow the author.**
- **You often engage with the author.** Replying to, reposting, saving and liking someone's posts, or messaging them, brings more of their posts.
- **Other people responded.** Reposts count most, then replies, then likes, because they take more effort.
- **It is fresh.** A post's boost from being new fades over about a week.
- **The author has good standing.** Every account has a private trust score. It grows slowly as you post and as people like, save and follow, with a daily cap so it can't be farmed, and it drops when posts are flagged as spam or abuse. Nobody else sees it.
- **It has something to read or see.** Several paragraphs of real writing, a picture you took, numbers, a question. Posts like this rank above a bare link.
- **It is from your country**, if "Prioritize my region" is on in Feed preferences (it is by default). A small nudge, not a filter.

A little daily variety is mixed in, so two posts that score the same don't always appear in the same order.

## What holds a post back

- **A link with little text.** If the post is mostly a link, readers can't tell why to open it.
- **A hard sell.** Many calls to action, prices and "DM now" next to a link, or a phone number next to sales words.
- **Stuffing.** A long row of hashtags, keyword-anchored links written for search engines, or the same words repeated over and over.
- **Disguised text.** Letters in "𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱" or "𝓈𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉" Unicode styles, which dodge filters and are hard to read.
- **Readers passing it by.** If you scroll past an author's posts many times, you see less of them for a while.

Some posts are never shown in anyone's feed: scams, adult content, and anything the [content rules](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-we-fight-spam) prohibit. Posts flagged as spam or sensitive only reach people who already follow the author, and posts in languages you don't read only reach you if you follow their author.

## Every new post gets a first audience

A brand-new post has no replies or reposts yet, so on engagement alone it could never compete. That's why every few slots in members' feeds are given to new posts from the last three days that nobody has reacted to yet. Each one is shown to a small first audience of members it matches. When someone reacts, it joins the normal ranking and can travel further; if it uses its first audience without a reaction, the feed stops pushing it.

## No one takes over your feed

The same author never appears twice within ten posts of your feed, however much they post. Explore works the same way. So a burst of posts mostly competes with itself, and one considered post does better than several quick ones.

## What signed-out visitors and Explore show

People who visit Knowasiak without an account see a feed of posts members engaged with, ranked by the same quality checks, with no personal signals. Explore ranks the same way, and when you search, how well a post matches your search comes first. In both, one author doesn't fill the page.

## How to get more reach

1. **Write what you know, in full sentences.** A specific answer, a lesson from your work, a short case study with numbers.
2. **Add a picture of your own**: your product, your team, your work.
3. **If you share a link, say what it is** and why it is worth opening, in a few sentences of your own.
4. **Ask a real question** at the end. Replies help a post travel more than likes.
5. **Reply to people who reply to you**, and to other members' posts in your field.
6. **Use one or two hashtags** that name the topic, not ten.
7. **Fill in your headline and business category** in **your profile**, so your posts reach members interested in your field.

## What you control

- **Feed preferences**: add topics you want more of, or clear the interests Knowasiak picked up from what you read.
- **Mute or block** an account from the menu on its profile or posts.
- **Prioritize my region** (in Feed preferences): on by default; turn it off for a more global mix.
- **Languages you read** (in Feed preferences): the feed recommends posts in these languages. Posts from people you follow always show, whatever the language.

## Questions

### Does paying for Pro or a boost rank my posts higher?
No. The ranking doesn't look at whether you pay. A boost buys a set number of extra views in promoted slots, and the post carries a "Boosted" label there. Everything else competes on the same signals.

### Do GoodWill, streaks or leagues affect my reach?
No. GoodWill, streaks and leagues show how active you are, but the feed doesn't use them. What counts is how your posts match readers' interests, how people respond to them, how recent they are, and the trust standing of your account.

### Why did my post get few views?
Usually one of three reasons: it is mostly a link with little text, it reads as a sales pitch, or nobody has reacted to it yet. Every new post gets a first audience; a post that earns a reply or a repost then competes in everyone's feed. Writing what you know, in full sentences, travels furthest.

### Should I post more often to get more reach?
Not much. Your posts never appear twice within ten posts of a reader's feed, so a burst of posts mostly competes with itself. One good post a day does better than five quick ones. New accounts can publish up to five posts a day for their first 30 days.

### Do hashtags help?
One or two that describe the topic help readers who follow it find your post. A long row of hashtags is read as stuffing and pushes the post down.

### Do links hurt a post?
Not when you say what the link is and why it is worth opening. A post that is little more than a link ranks low. See [how links work](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-links-work).

### Can I see less of something?
Yes. Mute or block an account from its profile menu. In **Feed preferences** you can add topics, clear the interests picked up from your reading, choose the languages you read and turn "Prioritize my region" on or off. Scrolling past an author many times also shows you less of them for a while.
