# How Knowasiak keeps spam out

Knowasiak is only worth reading, and only worth listing on Google, if it isn't full of spam. So most spam is refused before it goes live, not cleaned up after. Here is what isn't allowed, the checks that run at sign-up and when you post, and what to do if something gets through or a rule catches you by mistake.

## In short

Knowasiak refuses prohibited content such as gambling, adult services, scams and fake documents when it is posted, and an hourly check hides anything that slipped through. Sign-ups from throwaway and bot-farm email domains are refused, new accounts have a daily post limit and a link limit, and copied or repeated posts are refused. Members can report any post or profile privately. Hidden posts are kept, not deleted, so mistakes can be undone.

## What isn't allowed

These are refused when you post or edit, and hidden if they are found later:

- Adult content and sexual services, including escort services
- Gambling and betting, including casino, betting-ID and colour-prediction apps
- Drug sales and online pharmacies selling prescription drugs
- Tobacco and vape sales
- Scams and fraud, including "earn from home" job offers that push you to a private chat
- Selling accounts, reviews or followers
- Essay and assignment writing services
- Counterfeit goods and fake documents
- Hacking services and stolen data
- Pirated streams
- Mass-produced market-research adverts ("Market Size, Share and Forecast… request a sample")
- Misleading claims

The checks are written from real spam seen on Knowasiak and kept narrow, so a news report about betting regulation or a perfume shop isn't caught. The full rules are in the [Terms of Use](https://knowasiak.com/terms_of_use).

## At sign-up

- **Real email addresses only.** Throwaway inboxes, email domains that can't receive mail, and domains used by bot farms are refused.
- **Domains marked as spam** by the team can't be used to sign up again, and accounts already on them are suspended.
- **A readable username.** Handles made of random letters or long runs of numbers are refused, and members who signed in with Google or another account choose a readable one before their first post.

## When you post

- **Prohibited content is refused**, with a message that says which rule the post hit.
- **New accounts can publish up to five posts a day** for their first 30 days. Replies don't count. Verified businesses, verified accounts and Pro members have no limit.
- **Links are limited**: two per post in an account's first 30 days, four after that.
- **No repeats.** A post that repeats most of one of your recent posts is refused.
- **No copies.** A post whose opening matches another account's post is refused.
- **Low-effort promotion sinks.** Posts that are only a link, a hard sell or a row of hashtags aren't refused, but they rank low in the [feed](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-the-feed-works), and a new account's post stays out of search until it shows some quality.

## In messages

A direct message that looks like a job scam (money promised for easy work, plus a push to continue on WhatsApp, Telegram or a personal email) is refused when it comes from a new account. Never pay to get a job, and report anyone who asks.

## Accounts

- **Bot sign-ups are switched off.** Accounts from bot-farm domains that never posted, messaged or liked anything are switched off automatically.
- **Repeat offenders lose their page.** When the rules keep removing an account's posts, the rest of its posts are hidden and its profile is taken down. The same happens to a profile whose name, bio or website breaks the rules.
- **Trust is earned slowly.** Every account has a private trust score that drops each time a post is flagged as spam or abuse, which pushes its posts down in the feed.

The automatic checks never treat Gmail, Outlook and other big email providers, schools or large companies as spam domains, so real people using them aren't caught.

## Report what gets through

1. Open the menu (⋮) on the post, reply or profile.
2. Choose **Report** and pick the reason.
3. Send it. Reports are private, and the team reviews every one. If something breaks the rules, it is hidden or removed.

You can also mute or block the account from the same menu, so you don't see it while the report is reviewed.

## If a rule catches you by mistake

Nothing is deleted by these checks. Hidden posts and switched-off accounts are kept, and every action is logged, so the team can see why it happened and undo it completely. [Contact the team](https://knowasiak.com/contact) with the post or account, and it will be looked at.

## Questions

### My post was refused. What can I do?
The message under the composer says which rule it hit. Rewrite the post without that part and publish again. If you think the rule caught a legitimate post, [contact the team](https://knowasiak.com/contact) with the post's text.

### Why can I only publish five posts a day?
New accounts can publish up to five posts in any 24 hours for their first 30 days. Replies don't count. The limit stops new accounts flooding the feed, which is what most spam accounts do. Verified businesses, verified accounts and Pro members have no limit.

### Why was my post refused as a duplicate?
Knowasiak refuses a post that repeats most of one of your recent posts, or that copies the opening of another account's post. Write each post for this audience, in your own words.

### Why can't I add more links?
Accounts in their first 30 days can put two links in a post, older accounts four. A post that is mostly links reads as an advert, and ranks low anyway.

### Why was I asked to choose a username before posting?
Handles made of random letters and long runs of numbers look exactly like spam accounts, so members choose a readable one before their first post. You only do it once.

### Will the person I report know it was me?
No. Reports are private, and the team reviews every one.

### What if my post or account was hidden by mistake?
Hidden posts and switched-off accounts are kept, not deleted, so a mistake can be undone completely. [Contact the team](https://knowasiak.com/contact) and say which post or account it is.
