Use it to find people near you or in a market you want to sell to, and choose whether and where you appear on it. ## In short On the People or Businesses tab of [Explore](https://knowasiak.com/explore/people), switch from List to Map. Each dot is a city; click it to see who is there and open anyone's panel. Pro members can also search within 25, 50, 100 or 250 km of a city. Members appear at their city's centre, never at an exact position, and can turn off "Show me on the map" at any time. ## Open the map 1. Go to [People](https://knowasiak.com/explore/people) or [Businesses](https://knowasiak.com/explore/business) in Explore. 2. Switch the view from **List** to **Map**. 3. Drag to move around. On a computer, hold Ctrl and scroll to zoom, or use the zoom buttons; "Whole world" zooms back out. Zoom in and country borders and names appear, then the names of big cities. ## Cities and people Click a city to see the people or businesses there. Each city shows up to eight of each, with a count of the rest. Click a person to open their panel: why they might interest you, a few facts, Follow and Show similar, which opens [Discover](https://knowasiak.com/help/discover-people) with people like them. ## Search near a city (Pro) [Pro](https://knowasiak.com/premium_account) members can add **Near a city** to People, Businesses and Discover: pick a city and a distance of 25, 50, 100 or 250 km, and only members within it are shown. It combines with every other filter, so "packaging, near Sydney, 50 km" works. ## Where you appear - **Your profile's city comes first.** If your profile has a city, you are pinned there. - **Otherwise, your device's city.** Knowasiak may ask your browser once for your location and keeps only the nearest city. - **Always at the city centre**, never at your exact position, which is never stored. - **Only listed profiles appear**, the same as in search; [how profiles get found](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-profiles-get-found). ## Turn it off or change your city In **Settings, Account privacy**, the **Location and data** card has: - **Show me on the map**: turn it off to leave the map and "near a city" searches. - **Your city on the map**: where you are pinned now, with Edit city. - **Use this device's location**: set your city from this device instead. The [Privacy Policy](https://knowasiak.com/privacy_policy) explains how location is used. City data: GeoNames. ## Questions ### Does Knowasiak know my exact location? No. Only the nearest city is kept, never your exact position, and you appear at the city's centre. ### How do I take myself off the map? Turn off "Show me on the map" in Settings, Account privacy, under Location and data. You are then left out of the map and of "near a city" searches. ### Why am I in the wrong city? The city on your profile comes first. Change it in your profile settings, or choose "Edit city" under Location and data. If your profile has no city, the city from your device is used. ### Why don't I see everyone in a city? Each city shows up to eight people and eight businesses on the map, with a count of the rest. Use People or Businesses with "near a city" to see the full list. ### Is "near a city" free? No, it is a Pro filter.
