Both are checked automatically in a minute or two. Here is how to get each, and what they change. ## In short Open Settings → Verification. For a **verified work email**, confirm an address at your company's domain with a 6-digit code, or sign in with your company Google account. For a **verified business**, switch the page to a business account and prove it owns its domain with a DNS record, a meta tag or a text file. The domain must be at least 90 days old with a website that loads securely. Open **Settings, Verification**. 2. Enter the address you have at the company you work for, and press **Send code**. 3. Type the **6-digit code** from that inbox and press **Confirm**. Codes last 15 minutes. Signing in with Google using your company account verifies it automatically. Gmail, Outlook and other free inboxes can't be verified, and a business page's work email has to be at its own website's domain. ## Verify your business 1. Make sure the page is a business account (Settings, Account type) and that its website is your company's domain. 2. Open **Settings, Verification** and enter the domain, like your-company.com. Choose one way to prove the page owns it: - **DNS record**: add the TXT record shown in your domain provider's DNS settings (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, Google and so on). - **Meta tag**: paste the tag shown inside the `` of your homepage. - **Text file**: create a file at `/.well-known/knowasiak.txt` on your site containing only the code shown. 4. Press **Check**. The page then shows each check passing: the page owns the domain, the domain is at least 90 days old, the website loads securely (HTTPS), no other page has verified this domain, and there are no spam labels on the page's posts. ## What verification changes Both checkmarks give you: - **A checkmark** next to your name on every post and reply. - **"Verified site"** on links to the verified domain in your posts; [how links work](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-links-work#verified-site). A verified business also gets: - **Always listed** in search, Explore and the sitemap, whatever its posts; [how profiles get found](https://knowasiak.com/help/how-profiles-get-found). - **On Google from day one.** Its posts can be indexed straight away, instead of earning it post by post as a new account. - **No new-account post limit**: more than five posts a day in its first 30 days. ## Re-checks Badges are re-checked automatically: the domain proof every month and spam labels every day. Keep the DNS record, meta tag or file in place after you verify, or the badge will be removed at the next check. ## Questions ### Is verification free? Yes. Both checkmarks are free, and they are checked automatically in a minute or two, with no review queue. ### Can I verify with a Gmail or Outlook address? No. Free email addresses can't prove you work at a company. Use your address at your company's own domain. ### Why was my domain refused? The domain has to be at least 90 days old and have a website that opens. It can't be a website builder or social network address, and for a verified business no other page may have verified it already. The page tells you which check failed. ### My DNS record isn't found. What now? DNS changes usually show within minutes, sometimes a few hours. Check the record's name and value match exactly, wait, and press Check again. You can also use the meta tag or the text file instead. ### Can I lose the checkmark? Yes. Badges are re-checked automatically: the domain proof every month, spam labels on the page's posts every day. If a check fails, the badge is removed and you can verify again once it passes. ### Can I remove my checkmark? Yes, from the same page.
