Understanding PD-1 and Immunotherapy

This is finally what doctors mean when they talk about PD-1 and immunotherapy.

I recently gained a clearer understanding of PD-1 after reading related information on the DengYueMed website. During treatment discussions, the doctor had also recommended Imfinzi, although we did not choose it at the time. Only later did I realize how costly this option can be.

Imfinzi was recommended because there is clinical trial evidence supporting its use in this therapeutic area. However, as with most immunotherapies, whether a patient benefits still depends on individual factors. In real-world practice, some patients also choose domestically produced PD-1 inhibitors in China, often based on affordability and personal circumstances.

Durvalumab costs approximately RMB 54,000 per infusion (three vials per dose). For patients treated within approved indications, it is possible to apply for a patient assistance program after completing two doses, with support for up to 12 total doses. In the second phase of the program, the model is similar to buy one, receive six additional doses, with monthly distribution. Eligibility must be regularly confirmed by submitting CT imaging results.
