# What's New: Communities launched! Custom backgrounds and more!

The headline change in this update — **you can now set a custom background on your profile and on any community you own**, instead of the flat default banner.

## What's new
- Choose from curated background presets, or upload your own image
- Works on your personal profile *and* on communities you own
- Changes are live instantly, visible to everyone who visits

## How to turn it on

**On your profile:** Go to [Premium Features](/premium_features) → Background, pick a preset or upload an image, and save. Requires an active Premium account — [upgrade here](/premium_account) if you're not on it yet.

**On a community you own:** Open the community → Settings → Background. Same picker. Requires the community's owner to have Premium active.

## Don't have a community yet?

Head to [Explore → Communities](/community) and hit **Create Community** — name, category, a short description, done in under a minute.
