How to Wrap a Pallet Correctly: Step-by-Step Guide (Manual and Machine)?

Wrapping a pallet correctly helps keep the load stable, protect products and reduce the risk of damage during handling and transport. Start with a sound pallet and stack heavier cartons at the bottom, keeping the load within the pallet edges. Secure sharp or fragile corners with corner protectors before wrapping. When hand wrapping, anchor the film to the base, wrap around the pallet and bottom cartons three to four times, then spiral upwards with around 50% overlap and even tension. Heavier or unstable loads may need additional passes and a second wrap back down. Machine wrapping provides faster and more consistent tension for higher-volume operations, particularly when wrapping more than 15 to 20 pallets a day. Choosing the right stretch film for the load, maintaining even tension and checking the finished pallet can improve load stability and reduce film waste.
